General Information

• Bed count: 14 (7 L&D; 7 general)
• Experience required: 2 years
• First‑time traveler: Willing to consider
• Nursery: well‑baby nursery, encourage rooming in

Patient Types

• Active labor, post‑partum, antepartum, GYN
• High‑risk mothers transferred out
• During C‑sections, nurses go to OR for baby

Patient Ratios

• 1:1 labor/recovery
• 1:3 couplets

Required Certifications

• BLS
• FHM
• NRP

Skills Required

• Triage, active labor, post‑partum, antepartum
• Vaginal checks, FHM, nursery experience

Support on the Unit

• CNA: 1:6
• Team lead
• Phlebotomy/RN: draw blood
• Hospitalist 24/7
• Bedside monitoring
• FHM at nursing station
• Unit secretary (day)

Charting System & Equipment

• EPIC
• Alaris
• Pyxis

Orientation

• Typically one full shift – may start at noon to meet with educators, then move to unit for remainder of shift

Scheduling

• Weekend rotation: every other
• On call: none
• Holiday expectations: as needed
