Job Summary
Performs complex agricultural work. The role involves producing livestock and agricultural products, monitoring inmate activities, and working under general supervision with moderate latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
Essential Functions- Provides technical assistance in the general care and accountability of livestock and oversees livestock program operations.
- Assists in producing, processing, and distributing livestock, livestock feed rations, and livestock commodities; assists in breeding and preventive medical treatment of livestock.
- Oversees the operation of agricultural machinery; assists in construction, repair, and maintenance of agricultural facilities.
- Implements an established training program; assists in maintaining inventory of materials and supplies; assists in maintaining records and prepares related correspondence and reports.
- Maintains security of tools, machinery, and equipment; responds to emergency situations; searches for escaped inmates; transports assigned inmates; performs various correctional and custodial functions.
- Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.

- Title: Agriculture Specialist I — $3,537.92/month (Salary GR.A14).
- Title: Agriculture Specialist II — $3,716.86/month (Salary GR.A15).
- Title: Agriculture Specialist III — $3,906.52/month (Salary GR.A16).
*This is a career ladder position. Selection considers the applicant’s education and experience. The Manufacturing, Agribusiness, and Logistics Division has one Agriculture Specialist position available.*
