The Department of Medicine, Division of Hospital Medicine, in the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a full‑time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor to support our Hospice and Palliative Medicine program. The position will work closely as part of a multidisciplinary team providing inpatient consult services at Wellstar Medical College of Georgia. It involves consulting for Hospice and Palliative Medicine, assisting with end‑of‑life discussions, arranging home/inpatient hospice, and managing symptoms for end‑of‑life patients. The role also offers teaching opportunities and the chance to advance the mission of Palliative Medicine system‑wide. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.
Responsibilities- Deliver effective medical care within an in‑patient environment for a hospice and palliative medicine consult service.
- Maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
- Week on/off shift schedule.
MD, DO or equivalent. GA license or be eligible for GA license. Completed a Hospice/Palliative Medicine fellowship and be board certified/eligible in the specialty. Assistant Professor – early‑career faculty member with appropriate post‑graduate training. Associate Professor – mid‑career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience. Professor – senior‑career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements for institutional accreditation.
- Evidence of ability as a teacher.
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned.
- Successful experience (waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements).
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
This position is fiscal‑year based and works year‑round. The intended full‑time commitment (FTE) for this position is 1.0. Salary and compensation are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and are subject to availability of funds for all ranks.
