Vacancy for the 2025-2026 School Year
Function: The Security Officer role is directly related to the security, safety, and maintenance of the school building and the protection of all school personnel and property. The Security Officer will supervise hallways, lavatories, and cafeteria, as well as check the passes of visitors and students moving throughout the school district buildings.
ResponsibilitySecurity is directly responsible to the building principal and, through him/her, to the Assistant Superintendent of Operations and Superintendent of Schools.
Minimum Qualifications- High school graduate or equivalent
- Will be required to pass a criminal history background check, physical examination, and provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status (CURRENT EMPLOYEES EXEMPT)
- Verify student and visitor identification where necessary.
- Report any violations of student rules to the proper administrator immediately.
- Assist in the proper management and good order of student traffic.
- Deter and prevent horseplay and misconduct in the halls, on the part of students.
- Supervise and inspect lavatories during and between classes to prevent smoking, defacing, and violation of individual safety.
- Prevent vandalism of school facilities by students or unauthorized visitors.
- Maintain the security of the building by checking exterior doors and classroom doors of unoccupied areas.
- Institute the removal of any suspended students from the premises through school administration.
- Report any safety or fire hazards in the school area.
- Prevent loitering of students in unauthorized areas in and out of the school buildings.
- Supervise specific areas of the school building at the beginning and ending of the school day.
- Be alert for the possession of any illegal articles—such as weapons, alcoholic beverages, drugs, or unauthorized literature—on the part of students or visitors.
- Take preventative action to quell student fights and disorders that occur on school property.
- Submit proper written reports and daily activity on areas prescribed by the administration of the school and district.
- Be generally responsive and helpful to student needs when such demands arise.
- Attend and participate in training/in-service programs.
- Be responsible for any additional duties prescribed by the on‑site administrator.
