Assistant Principal – Student Services & Instruction

Location: Technology Center of DuPage (TCD), Addison, IL

Position Overview

The Assistant Principal for Student Services & Instruction supports the Principal in advancing high-quality instruction and comprehensive student support across TCD's career and technical education programs. This administrator leads instructional improvement, special education compliance, student intervention systems, and the mentoring program for new instructors. The role ensures that all students receive equitable access to learning, and that teachers have the tools, coaching, and professional development needed to deliver rigorous, industry-aligned instruction.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Administration
  • Support the Principal in implementing TCD's mission, instructional vision, and strategic goals.
  • Lead systems related to student services, academic supports, special education compliance, and instructional quality.
  • Oversee IEP/504 implementation and ensure legal compliance, accurate documentation, and effective communication with partner districts.
  • Analyze student performance, MTSS, and attendance data using SIS reports to inform instructional and support decisions.
  • Assist with operational processes that impact instruction (scheduling, onboarding, reporting timelines).
  • Contribute to schoolwide initiatives that promote a positive culture and strong academic expectations.
Curriculum and Instruction
  • Provide instructional leadership by supporting teachers with planning, curriculum alignment, use of high-quality instructional strategies, assessments, and reporting.
  • Lead and coordinate professional development aligned to TCD priorities and coordinate cross-program learning and collaboration opportunities.
  • Facilitate instructional coaching cycles, classroom visits, and feedback aligned to the Danielson Framework.
  • Support dual credit, industry certifications, and assessment alignment through collaboration with college, industry partners, and instructors.
  • Coordinate academic interventions and ensure alignment of supports with CTE program requirements.
Personnel
  • Develop and lead a 3 year mentoring program for new instructors, ensuring early and ongoing support for instructional expectations, classroom systems, and student services.
  • Assist with hiring processes, onboarding, and supporting staff growth in collaboration with the Principal.
  • Lead the recruitment and hiring process for all substitutes and Student Services Assistants (SSAs), including screening, interviewing, and coordinating onboarding.
  • Support staff in understanding and implementing IEP/504 accommodations and instructional modifications.
  • Conduct evaluations for instructional and support staff, providing actionable feedback that promotes growth and supports school goals.
  • Assist principal with substitute coordination as it relates to instructional activities and student support.
Community Partnerships
  • Collaborate with partner home districts regarding student supports, IEP/504 communication, MTSS needs, and academic concerns.
  • Oversee recruitment events, student showcases, and public-facing activities that promote TCD's instructional programs.
  • Communicate regularly with families and dual credit partners regarding student progress and supports.
Qualifications
  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with General Administrative/Principal Endorsement required.
  • Experience in CTE, special education, or instructional leadership preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in supporting teachers, improving instruction, and leading student services.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple districts.
