Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Field Supervisor & Cost Estimator to oversee residential handyman and remodeling projects from initial estimate through completion. This role requires a strong background in both hands-on trades work and construction estimating, with the ability to manage crews, communicate with clients, and ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to company standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesField Supervision
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of multiple residential projects (repairs, renovations, remodeling)
  • Supervise and coordinate in-house craftsman (W2 and 1099)
  • Ensure all work meets quality standards, building codes, and safety requirements
  • Conduct job site visits, inspections, and final walkthroughs with customers
  • Troubleshoot issues in the field and provide solutions in real time
  • Maintain schedules and ensure timely project completion

Estimating & Sales Support
  • Perform on-site estimates for handyman and remodeling projects
  • Review scopes of work, plans, and customer requests to develop accurate pricing
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates including labor, materials, and timelines
  • Source and price materials, subcontractor bids, and specialty services
  • Present estimates to customers and assist in closing jobs when needed
  • Track job costs and adjust estimating practices to improve profitability

Project Coordination
  • Schedule jobs, crews, and materials efficiently
  • Communicate with clients throughout the project lifecycle
  • Coordinate material orders and deliveries
  • Ensure proper documentation (change orders, job notes, photos, etc.)
  • Work closely with office staff on job tracking and invoicing

Qualifications
  • 8-10+ years experience in construction trades (carpentry, drywall, electrical, plumbing, or remodeling)
  • 2+ years estimating experience in residential construction or remodeling
  • Strong understanding of labor costs, material pricing, and job costing
  • Ability to read blueprints, scopes of work, and project specifications
  • Proven leadership experience managing crews or subcontractors
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and mobile job tools
  • Valid driver’s license (company vehicle provided)
  • MI Residential Builders License is a plus
