POSITION SUMMARYAt CVS Health, we are committed to delivering an exceptional developer experience across all CVS Digital teams. We are building a new Developer Experience Tooling & Automation team and are seeking a hands‑on Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain the data pipelines, analytics infrastructure, and data‑driven tooling that provide actionable insights into developer productivity, platform health, and engineering metrics across the enterprise.
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining optimal data pipelines to assemble large and intricate datasets, catering to the business requirements of various CVS lines of business. Collaborating closely with teams, you will craft tools to provide actionable insights and integrate them with consumer touchpoints.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Design, develop and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for high‑volume batch and real‑time data
- Build and optimize analytics infrastructure that supports developer productivity and engineering metrics
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to deliver data products and self‑service insights
- Develop and maintain data models, schemas, and architectures for modern data platforms
- Ensure reliability, performance, and data quality across pipelines and platforms
- Contribute to DevOps and CI/CD practices for data and backend services
- Document designs, workflows, and best practices to support team knowledge sharing
- 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering with 3+ years of backend development in Java, Spring Boot, or Python, and 3+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux and shell scripting
- 2+ years of experience building high-volume ETL/ELT data pipelines using distributed computing tools (Spark, Kafka) with hands‑on experience in real‑time streaming and data modeling, technical architectures, and infrastructure design for data platforms
- 2+ years of experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL - including query optimization and migration), NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra, or Neo4j), and data warehousing platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, or Redshift)
- 2+ years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and DevOps tools and practices (Docker, Git, GitHub Actions), including 1+ year with containerized deployments (Kubernetes, AKS)
- 2+ years of experience with data modeling, technical architectures, and infrastructure design for data platforms
- Experience building Agentic AI or AI‑powered tooling
- Strong understanding of CI/CD, automation, and DevOps best practices
- Experience with API design and development
- Familiarity with microservices and service‑oriented architectures
- Experience working with complex systems and solving large‑scale analytical problems
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across technical and non‑technical teams
- Familiarity with Agile or SAFe development methodologies
- Google Professional Data Engineer certification
- Healthcare domain experience
Bachelor's degree from accredited university or equivalent work experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience).

PAY RANGEThe typical pay range for this role is:
$83,430.00 - $222,480.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full‑time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short‑term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
