Position Summary

This role is responsible for the design and development of custom Integrated Microwave Assemblies (IMAs) and RF solutions. The engineer leads project teams in a fast‑paced environment to deliver new products to customers on schedule, meeting or exceeding all requirements, and ensuring profitable transition into production.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering and electronics principles using RF synthesis and simulation software to design, simulate, and prototype new RF/microwave modules and subsystems for demanding military and aerospace applications
  • Perform detailed compliance analysis for electrical, mechanical, environmental, and regulatory requirements (compliance matrix) for all new products being quoted
  • Estimate total costs, including material, labor, test, and development expenses, as well as lead times for new product quotations
  • Lead design and development projects to completion following the company’s established product development process
  • Optimize new products for performance, manufacturing lead time, and cost
  • Provide hands‑on guidance to assemblers and engineering technicians during prototype build and optimization phases
  • Interface with manufacturing engineering to develop any new processes required to support new products
  • Coordinate with the purchasing department to ensure timely procurement of prototype materials
  • Provide regular project status updates
  • Lead or participate in required project meetings: kick‑offs, peer design reviews, pre‑shipment reviews, etc.
  • Provide design engineering support during the transition of new products to production
  • Support existing production products that require engineering assistance for obsolete components, quality or reliability issues, or further optimization
  • Educate, train, mentor, and coach less experienced design engineers and technicians
  • Stay current with technology and industry trends; propose new product concepts that could provide a competitive advantage

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience designing integrated microwave assemblies (IMAs) and subsystems for demanding military and aerospace applications
  • Design proficiency in analog, RF, and microwave circuit design, as well as development of RF system architectures
  • Experience in the design of transmit/receive modules with strong proficiency using LNAs, SSPAs, couplers, attenuators, circulators, limiters, and filters in RF signal chains
  • Demonstrated expertise optimizing RF signal chains for noise figure and SWaP‑C (Size, Weight, Power, and Cost)
  • Experience in the design of up‑converters and down‑converters using PLL structures, mixers, and multipliers
  • Experience in the design of low‑noise DC supply circuits to power sensitive RF components, including power‑up and power‑down sequencing for SSPA modules
  • Demonstrated expertise in the design of printed circuit assemblies and advanced microwave structures
  • Excellent working knowledge of RF/microwave synthesis and simulation software
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong hands‑on bench testing skills (desirable)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a fast‑paced engineering/production environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of radio architecture, avionic and military communication systems, and radar architecture
  • Must be able to work with export‑controlled technical data (ITAR) without a license

Education, Experience, & Training

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering (BSEE, MSEE, or PhD)
  • Desirable: 10 years of RF/microwave industry experience, including at least five years specifically in IMA or RF solutions design
