Job Description
Doniphan-Trumbull Public Schools is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Summer Strength & Conditioning Coordinator to lead our district-wide summer athletic development program for student‑athletes in grades 4‑8. This position plays a vital role in building a strong foundation for all student‑athletes across every sport and at every level of development.
Primary Responsibilities- Design, implement, and oversee individualized and group‑based strength and conditioning programs that support the physical development of all student‑athletes, regardless of sport or gender. Programs reflect current best practices in athletic performance, injury prevention, and age‑appropriate training methodology.
- Daily supervision of the weight room and all summer conditioning sessions, ensuring a safe, organized, and positive training environment. Proper technique instruction is a core expectation; all participants must be taught and held to appropriate safety standards in all lifts and movement patterns.
- Collaborate with head coaches across all programs to align training priorities with sport‑specific development goals, supporting athletes in speed development, functional strength, movement mechanics, and injury prevention. Maintain open communication with coaching staff to ensure continuity between the summer program and in‑season preparation.
- Oversee and manage the assigned team.
- Use good judgment to determine athlete participation during practices and games, including squad level and playing time.
- Positively promote the athletic program within the schools and the community.
- Assist in the selection and evaluation of assistant coaches.
- Coordinate with the Activities Director in planning and scheduling practices, announcements, competitions, and the like.
- Supervise locker rooms and playing areas during and following periods of team participation.
- Remain with students and supervise them when traveling to away events.
- Oversee and tend to injured athletes.
- Care for and maintain equipment and annual inventories.
- Work closely with custodians in control at facilities.
- Serve as a role model to all students.
- Serve as a positive member of the community in a way that does not negatively affect the District’s reputation or image.
- Refrain from engaging in conduct that interferes with the operations of the District, including the education of students.
- Develop and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with other staff and administration.
- Adhere to all District policies, rules, regulations, and supervisory directives.
- Maintain confidentiality of information concerning staff, students, and parents in accordance with law and District rules.
- Adhere to the code of ethics of the District and the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE Rule 27).
- Background in exercise science, kinesiology, physical education, or a related field.
- Experience working with youth athletes.
- Genuine commitment to student‑athlete development—meeting each athlete where they are and supporting their individual goals.
- High‑school degree or GED required.
- Nebraska Teaching or Administrative and Supervisory Certificate, with a Special Services Certificate in coaching, preferred.
- First Aid and CPR training required (may be obtained on the job and must be kept current).
- Must possess a motor vehicle operator’s license with a certificate to operate a school van.
- On‑staff certificated employee preferred. Coaching experience preferred.
Position Type: Full‑Time
Salary: $1,873 to $3,423 Per Year
Essential Functions (Physical Requirements)- Stamina: Sitting, walking, standing, sprinting/running.
- Flexibility: Bending or twisting at the neck or trunk, squatting, stooping, kneeling, reaching above the head, reaching forward, repeating the same hand, arm or finger motion.
- Activities: Climbing, hand/grip strength, driving on the job, typing non‑stop.
- Use of Arms and Hands: Manual dexterity, finger dexterity.
- Lifting Requirements: Lifting up to 10 lb, 11‑25 lb, 26‑50 lb, 51‑75 lb, 76+ lb (floor to waist, waist to shoulder, shoulder to overhead). Pushing/pulling and carrying ranges as listed.
