Cardinal Shehan School, located in Baltimore, Maryland, is seeking a qualified, full‑time Social Studies Teacher for the 2026–2027 academic school year. The Middle School Social Studies Teacher would be responsible for all lessons in Social Studies to students in grades 6th‑8th. The middle school Social Studies teacher is responsible for implementing daily standard‑based lessons to support students’ acquisition and application of the Social Studies curriculum aligned with the standards of the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
Essential Functions
- Develop and implement engaging, age‑appropriate lesson plans for grades 6–8
- Teach topics such as U.S. and world history, civics, geography, economics, and government
- Incorporate primary sources, multimedia, and inquiry‑based learning to deepen students’ understanding
- Use a variety of assessment methods to evaluate student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Promote a classroom culture of respect, collaboration, and intellectual curiosity
- Integrate technology and cross‑curricular connections into lessons when appropriate
- Maintain regular communication with parents, guardians, and colleagues regarding student progress and classroom activities
- Participate in school events, professional development, and collaborative planning
- Lead a school club
- Uphold the school’s mission, values, and policies
- Perform other duties as assigned from time to time
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary or Secondary Education (concentration in History/Social Studies preferred).
- Current MSDE certification.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience (teaching middle/high school Social Studies preferred).
- Experience in a Catholic School setting is preferred.
- Must be comfortable with technology to include integration in daily lessons.
- Must have a commitment to Catholic School education.
Pay Range: $48,000 - $54,000, Annualized
