Job Title: Customer Stories Video Director
Location-Type: Hybrid (SF HQ with flexibility for Remote PST; onsite for shoots)
Start Date Is: ASAP
Duration: 6 months (contract, potential to extend/convert)
Compensation: $160/hr

Job Description:
Lead the creative vision and execution of customer story video content, producing compelling, narrative-driven films that highlight real-world use cases.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Direct customer story videos from concept through final delivery
  • Develop creative briefs, treatments, and narrative frameworks
  • Conduct and direct on-camera interviews with customers
  • Lead on-location video shoots and manage production crews
  • Creative direct external agencies and production partners
  • Collaborate with marketing and internal stakeholders to identify stories
  • Guide post-production including editing, color, and sound
  • Ensure brand consistency across all video content
  • Manage multiple projects across formats (long-form, social, events)

Requirements:

  • Must-Haves:
    • 6 years of video directing or production experience
    • Strong portfolio in documentary, testimonial, or customer storytelling
    • Experience leading full production lifecycle (pre to post)
    • Skilled interviewer with ability to draw out authentic stories
    • Experience directing on-location shoots in dynamic environments
    • Background working with B2B tech, SaaS, AI, or editorial content
    • Experience collaborating with marketing and cross-functional teams
    • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
    • Experience managing external vendors and production partners
    • Familiarity or interest in AI tools and storytelling in tech contexts
  • Nice-to-Haves:
    • Documentary or branded editorial filmmaking background
    • Experience with customer story content at a tech company or agency
    • Cinematography or director of photography experience
    • Editing experience or strong post-production collaboration skills
    • Experience with global or travel-heavy productions
    • Knowledge of multi-format content delivery (web, social, events)
