The Idaho State Tax Commission Technology and Innovation Team is seeking an IT Software Engineer II. The selected candidate will collaborate with project stakeholders, team members, external partners and vendors on sophisticated tax revenue administration software issues and development.
The successful candidate will have experience with object-oriented programming, good communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple assigned tasks in the same time period while meeting specified timelines in a group setting.
This position is an in-office position at the Boise Office on the Chinden Campus, 11321 West Chinden Blvd, Building 2. A compensation analysis will be completed for the selected candidate.
Responsibilities:
Developing, testing and implementing new enhancements, troubleshooting system problems, offering solutions, and assisting with user support. This is accomplished through changes to our State Tax software by making updates to the System Configuration, SQL queries, and VB.net business objects (in process of moving to C#)
Working with Business Units to get clarification on requirements
Research business processes and work with users to analyze and develop system solutions
Manage multiple work assignments
Communicate status updates with managers and stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications:
Good knowledge of software architecture, development, and testing practices (Typically gained by the completion of a bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent from and accredited college OR at least four years of work experience that included using software architecture, development, and testing practices)
Good knowledge of programming languages, software development tool suites and managing source code (Typically gained by the completion of at least one college or vocational tech level course directly related to at least one programming language and software development tool suites AND at least one year of work experience using programming languages and software development tools and managing source code; OR at least 18 months of work experience that included using programming languages and software development tools)
Experience creating, interpreting and documenting user requirements (Typically gained by a t least 18 months of work experience creating, interpreting and documenting user requirements)
Experience coding new systems and making code changes to existing production systems (Typically gained by a t least 18 months of work experience coding new systems and making code changes to existing production systems )
Experience testing and deploying production systems (Typically gained by a t least 18 months of work experience testing and deploying production systems )
