Job Title: Quantum Software Stability & Infrastructure Intern

Location: Boulder, CO

Duration: Summer 2026 (to align with school schedule)

Hours: Full-time During Summer (30-40 hours/week)

About Quantum Rings:

Quantum Rings is a quantum software company focused on accelerating the practical quantum ecosystem. We build developer tools, simulators, and platforms that remove scaling barriers and enable researchers, students, and industry teams to move beyond toy experiments toward meaningful quantum applications.

Our work emphasizes scale, realism, and usability—helping quantum developers push further than current hardware limits while preparing for the next generation of quantum systems.

Position Overview

We are seeking an intern focused on software stability, testing, and build infrastructure to help ensure that Quantum Rings’ quantum software platforms are robust, reliable, and easy to evolve.

This role is critical to enabling the rest of the team to move faster. By building strong testing frameworks, automating workflows, and improving CI/CD pipelines, you will directly increase engineering velocity and confidence—while working deeply with quantum-centric software and simulations.

While this is a process- and quality-focused role, testing will be highly quantum-aware, requiring a foundational understanding of quantum circuits, simulations, and expected behaviors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement unit tests, integration tests, and regression tests for quantum-centric software components.
  • Improve and maintain automated build, test, and deployment pipelines to ensure consistent and reliable releases.
  • Develop testing strategies that account for quantum-specific behaviors, edge cases, and performance characteristics—not just classical correctness.
  • Perform targeted manual testing of new features and workflows, feeding insights back into automated test coverage.
  • Help identify gaps in testing, release, and development workflows, and propose improvements that reduce friction for the broader engineering team.
Qualifications
  • Background in computer science, engineering, physics, or a related technical field.
  • Familiarity with Python and modern development workflows.
  • Basic understanding of quantum computing concepts (e.g., circuits, simulators, or quantum algorithms).
  • Strong attention to detail and systems thinking.
Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with quantum SDKs (e.g., Qiskit, Cirq, PennyLane).
  • Experience with software testing, unit testing frameworks, or CI/CD systems.
  • Experience with cloud-based CI/CD tools and build systems.
  • Interest in developer productivity and software quality engineering.
What You’ll Gain
  • Hands-on experience improving the reliability of real quantum software systems.
  • Deep exposure to how quantum simulators and developer platforms are built and validated.
  • The opportunity to directly increase team velocity and impact.
  • Close collaboration with engineers and researchers across the stack.
  • Potential for extended collaboration or full-time roles.

Application Deadline: February 28, 2026
