This position reports to the Associate Director of Enterprise Applications and is responsible for providing and supporting computer information systems to the campus community through process analysis, configuration consultation, problem resolution, and reporting. The Systems Analyst analyzes, designs, supports, and documents computer information systems and serves as a project leader. The position provides ongoing support to users through training, maintenance, and troubleshooting. This position is located onsite in Abilene, Texas.
Basic Responsibilities:

  • Provide end-user customer support.
  • Participate in on-call rotation.
  • Provide consultation and project management to university departments.
  • Install and maintain software used by the university.
  • Centrally document procedures and tasks in a detailed format for knowledge sharing.
Essential Duties:

A. Provide end-user customer support
  • Research questions and problems concerning the software systems.
  • Respond to customer questions and concerns.
  • Train end-users to effectively use software.
B. Participate in on-call rotation.
  • Provide second-tier support for services maintained by Enterprise Applications.
  • Resolve issues in a timely manner so that campus users can successfully use computing services.
  • Respond to after-hours emergencies and facilitate timely resolutions.
C. Provide consultation and project management to university departments.
  • Gather specifications from departments wishing to acquire, implement, and maintain software to maximize effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with vendors to identify solutions that meet university needs.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop and/or integrate software that meets university needs.
D. Install and maintain software used by the university.
  • Install software system upgrades.
  • Document the systems.
  • Complete daily tasks to ensure system performance.
  • Participate in both technical and non-technical teams to maximize the use of software.
E. Centrally document procedures and tasks in a detailed format for knowledge sharing.
  • Write procedures to document daily tasks.
  • Documenting, auditing, and enforcing processes.
Professional Development Requirements:
Skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of client and server operating systems like Windows, Linux, and Mac OS.
  • Familiarity with web and application server setup and administration
  • Ability to analyze and resolve difficult technology problems.
  • Ability to extract and utilize complex information from technical documentation.
  • Experience with relational SQL databases.
  • Project management.
  • Ability to keep current with information technology and its application to higher education. This includes participating in conferences and training classes on higher education application software or computer systems

  • Interpersonal and communication classes and workshops.

  • Time and multiple priorities management workshops.
  • Application software training.
  • Attend occasional out-of-town conferences and training.
Qualifications:
Professional
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in application management and support, including troubleshooting and optimization
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
  • Experience with project coordination or management, including requirements gathering and stakeholder collaboration
  • Ability to analyze business processes and recommend technical solutions to improve efficiency

  • Physical Demands
  • Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work extended hours as the need arises. This includes on-call rotation and performing software maintenance and updates outside of working hours.
