Assisting the Director of Marketing, the Assistant Director Marketing & Fan Experience creates preeminent experiences for Rice fans on gameday. The role oversees marketing strategies to drive attendance, promotion, and engagement of athletic events, and leads the effort to continually innovate the fan experience and push Rice to be an industry leader in in‑venue production. Responsibilities include developing and executing marketing plans, managing game‑day promotions and operations, engaging the community, and generating revenue through ticket sales, fundraising, and premium guest experiences with auxiliary fan‑experience groups.

Requirements- Bachelor’s degree required.
- One or more years of related experience.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively across the university and build relationships with diverse constituencies.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Customer service orientation.
- Strong organizational and project management skills to balance multiple projects and deadlines.
- Creative problem‑solving skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy of data.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, ShoFlo, SoundDirector, and Oracle Eloqua.
- Strong understanding of athletics branding, marketing, and advertising principles (preferred).
- Plan, execute and communicate marketing (print & digital advertising) and gameday experiences for Volleyball and Men’s Basketball.
- Oversee the weekly newsletter promoting all home events to increase attendance and ticket sales.
- Enhance student and campus awareness of all athletic events.
- Innovate and promote Sammy The Owl mascot and spirit programs.
- Lead new opportunities to increase paid appearances for both programs through outreach and digital marketing.
- Collaborate with coaches, staff, and external cross‑functional teams to communicate planning, execution and expectations of marketing and gameday activities.
- Exercise fiscal responsibility by budgeting for promotional materials and reporting purchases.
