Overview:

HomeVestors is hiring a Manager, Software Engineering to lead a high-impact engineering function while remaining hands-on in delivery as a true player-coach. Reporting directly to the CTO, this role will lead engineers, shape technical direction, and actively contribute to architecture, code reviews, and critical implementation work across our full-stack environment.

The Role:

This leader will be responsible for defining and improving engineering practices across coding standards, secure development, deployment, and QA processes. The ideal candidate brings strong people leadership, strong technical judgment, and the ability to work across a broad stack that includes Salesforce, Python, GCP, SQL, PostgreSQL, Node.js, React, and React Native, with practical familiarity using AI coding tools to improve engineering productivity and quality.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience with strong full-stack capability.
  • Experience leading engineers or technical delivery in a manager, lead, or senior engineering leadership capacity.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Salesforce development.
  • Strong experience developing in Python and Node.js.
  • Strong frontend experience with React and mobile application experience with React Native.
  • Experience working in GCP environments.
  • Strong database experience with SQL and PostgreSQL.
  • Demonstrated ability to define and operationalize:
    • coding practices
    • coding security standards
    • deployment processes
    • QA and testing processes
  • Experience working across the full software development lifecycle from design through production support.
  • Familiarity with AI coding tools and sound judgment in applying them within engineering workflows.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to lead across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a player-coach role balancing people leadership with direct technical contribution.
  • Experience improving engineering maturity across multiple systems and teams.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and release governance.
  • Experience building or refining secure SDLC practices.
  • Experience supporting web, mobile, backend, and platform/integration work in the same organization.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced product or business-facing technology environment.

What Success Looks Like

In the first 6–12 months, this person will:

  • Raise the quality and consistency of engineering execution across the stack.
  • Establish clearer standards for coding, security, deployment, and QA.
  • Improve release confidence and delivery predictability.
  • Act as a trusted technical leader and people manager for the engineering team.
  • Help the organization adopt AI coding tools in a practical, secure, and measurable way.
  • Strengthen cross-functional execution with product, QA, and business partners.

Work Location

This role is based in Dallas, Texas and follows a hybrid schedule of 3 days onsite and 2 days remote.
