Outside Operators are technically capable professionals who embrace change, adapt quickly, make decisions rapidly, possess self-confidence and leadership skills, and are lifelong learners. This position will work in a Union environment.
After an individual applies and meets the minimum qualifications for the position, technical testing will be scheduled. Passing the technical testing is required to move forward through the hiring process. Interviews will be scheduled with select individuals based on position requirements. If an offer is made, the individual must then complete and pass a comprehensive physical function test, background check, and drug screen to start work.
The current rates for this position range from $32.90 - $47.00 per hour, based on years of direct relevant experience.
Major Responsibilities- Responsible for the monitoring and operation of plant process equipment used in the manufacturing process.
- Evaluates unit operating status and performs troubleshooting of processes and equipment to maximize unit reliability and product quality.
- Documents operating parameters and maintains communication with others inside and outside the department.
- Monitors maintenance activities and performs minor maintenance.
- Follows all safety and security guidelines according to company policy and applicable regulations.
- Supports and is cross‑trained in PZ, Acetic Acid, Utilities and Support Areas.
- Responsible for personal safety, the safety of co‑workers and promoting a safe work environment; complying with state and federal environmental regulations.
- Leads daily activities, task planning, incident investigations, and work performance related to safety, environmental, quality, reliability and cost.
- Gains and maintains process knowledge of the unit and uses it to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Takes readings, utilizes plant data/control systems and observes process conditions continuously.
- Communicates accurately and timely with co‑workers and other functions to improve performance; provides ideas, raises concerns and promotes a respectful environment.
- Performs minor maintenance on equipment.
- Uses Safe Work Permit process to place systems in a safe condition for maintenance and communicates statuses.
- Ensures proper shift turnover with written and oral communication to relieving shift.
- Participates in process safety improvement through MOC, PHAs, incident investigations and other activities.
- Participates in training and assists in training new employees.
- Responds to emergency situations as required.
- Applies statistical tools to enhance product quality and participates in improvement teams.
- Performs startup, shutdown, isolation and decontamination of plant equipment.
- Complies with administrative duties for federal and state agency regulations.
- 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED.
- Internal candidates: must meet one of the following:
- 1 year INEOS Logistics Operator experience and 2 years manufacturing operator or equivalent.
- Fully qualified INEOS Logistics Operator with at least 2 years of full qualifications.
- 4.5 years as an INEOS Logistics Operator.
- External candidates: 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED and at least one of the following:
- 3+ years manufacturing operator experience.
- 4+ years of active military experience in a technical role (provide DD‑214).
- Must possess or obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card prior to first day of employment.
- Must possess a current, valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States permanently without visa sponsorship (U.S. citizen or permanent resident).
- Must have skills and training related to implementation of life‑saving rules (LOTO, system openings, work at heights, hot work, confined space entry, energized electrical work).
- Basic knowledge of chemicals and safe handling.
- Knowledge of pumps, transfer systems, and piping diagrams.
- Ability to read and understand instruments and gauges.
- Good process troubleshooting/problem‑solving skills.
- Basic understanding of MS Word, Excel, Outlook.

- Must be willing and able to work outside year‑round under various weather conditions.
- Must work 12‑hour rotating shifts (including nights, weekends, some holidays) and provide overtime coverage from 5 am–5 pm and 5 pm–5 am.

- Able to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and from elevated platforms.
- Must wear appropriate protective equipment.
- Required to participate in Respiratory Fit Testing Program.
