Wanco Inc. is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support day-to-day Human Resources operations within a fast‐paced manufacturing environment. This role provides hands‐on HR support to employees and supervisors, ensuring consistent application of HR policies, compliance with federal and state regulations, and alignment with company culture and operational needs. The HR Generalist plays a critical role in recruiting, employee relations, onboarding, benefits administration, performance management, and safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Staffing

  • Coordinate full-cycle recruiting for hourly manufacturing positions.
  • Partner with HR Manager and department managers to understand workforce needs and staffing forecasts.
  • Post jobs, screen applicants, schedule interviews, and participate in candidate selection.
  • Manage pre-employment activities (drug tests, onboarding prep)

Onboarding & Training

  • Conduct new hire orientation and ensure completion of all required documentation.
  • Maintain and update training records and support regulatory training (e.g., OSHA).
  • Facilitate ongoing employee training initiatives and support workforce development.

Employee Relations

  • Serve as an accessible point of contact for employee questions and workplace concerns.
  • Support conflict resolution efforts and coach supervisors on effective people management.
  • Assist with investigations related to attendance, performance, and policy violations.

HR Compliance & Policy Administration

  • Ensure compliance with federal and state labor laws (FMLA, ADA, wage & hour, OSHA).
  • Maintain employee personnel files and HR documentation in compliance with retention rules.
  • Support internal audits and assist with documentation required for regulatory inspections.

Benefits Administration

  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment, eligibility questions, and life‐event changes.
  • Support open enrollment activities, benefit communications, and vendor coordination.
  • Process disability claims, workers' compensation reports, and leave‐of‐absence requests.

Performance Management

  • Support supervisors with performance review processes and documentation.
  • Track and report performance metrics, coaching needs, and development gaps.
  • Assist in corrective action documentation and progressive discipline processes.

HR Reporting & Systems

  • Maintain accurate HRIS records, including attendance, status changes, and employee data.
  • Prepare reports for turnover, headcount, recruitment, training, safety, and compliance metrics.

Safety & Workers’ Compensation

  • Partner with the Safety team to support incident investigations and corrective actions.
  • Participate in and reinforce plant safety culture.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
    (or equivalent HR experience in a manufacturing setting)
  • 2–5 years of HR Generalist experience, preferably in manufacturing or industrial environments
  • Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, and compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem‐solving skills
  • Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to communicate in English and Spanish
  • Experience with various recruiting methods, including job fairs

Preferred

  • SHRM‐CP, SHRM‐SCP, or PHR certification
  • Experience with safety program support

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to navigate production floor safely

Salary Range: $75,000-$90,000, depending on experience

Reporting: This position has no direct reports, and reports to the Human Resources Manager.
