Retail Computer Technicians
Micro Center is looking for self‑motivated, results‑driven Retail Computer Technicians. Base pay starts at $15 per hour with productivity incentives that can increase rates up to $18–$35 per hour plus spiffs.
In this role you will spend up to half your time at the service counter helping customers with consultations, troubleshooting, and service recommendations, while the remainder of your time will be spent in the shop diagnosing and repairing computers and other electronic devices.
Major Responsibilities- Provide in‑person consultations and troubleshooting to customers at the service counter on a variety of computers and related equipment.
- Recommend service solutions such as data backups, anti‑virus, warranties, and support subscriptions.
- Identify, diagnose, and document hardware failures or software problems on desktops, laptops, mobile phones, TVs, and monitors.
- Assemble custom computers sold by the build‑your‑own sales team.
- Utilize technical manuals and support resources while maintaining appropriate technical certifications.
- Maintain a cash till, handle customer transactions, and keep the department clean with accurate inventory tracking.
- Provide timely, accurate information to customers via face‑to‑face, telephone, text, and email regarding their repair status.
- High school diploma or equivalent with at least one year of related computer service repair or technical customer service experience preferred.
- CompTIA A+ certification or Apple ACMT and ACiT certifications, or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire (Apple certifications highly desirable).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to multitask and adjust priorities.
- Physical requirements: lift up to 50 lbs., stand for prolonged periods.
